Meet the Maids
Hi! My name is Christina Griffin and I am Victoria’s Maid of Honor. Victoria and I met in college through mutual friends and have been growing our friendship ever since. Victoria and I share a strong affinity for outdoor life, hiking and camping in the White Mountains, summer concert nights listening to our favorite bands like Justin Timberlake and Zac Brown Band, and love for family and our furbabies. I am so excited to share in this incredibly special day and all the fun leading up to it. I can’t wait for the inevitable inside jokes from the bachelorette in Nashville, yee-haw! Thank you for choosing me to be part a day and wishing you and Rene a lifetime of happiness and love. LUM!
Ever since I was a little girl, I've always looked up to my older cousin Victoria. She has instilled in me many of life’s most important lessons, from how to choreograph a Spice Girls dance reminiscent of a super bowl halftime show, to the importance of developing an appreciation for art, culture and travel. She's been there for me no matter what, through thick and thin, and I could not be happier that she has found her partner in life. I wish Victoria and René a lifetime filled with love, laughter and happiness as they embark on this wonderful new chapter as a married couple. I could not think of two people more deserving, and am so excited to welcome René to our family!
"Wait, you go to UNH?"
"Yeah, why, do you?"
"That's awesome! That means we can hang out at home and dance even MORE!"
When we met in Spain for our semester abroad in college, I knew we wouldn't just be temporary friends, but lifelong ones. I honestly can't remember a point before the infamous "V Team" was formed. Gallivanting through Spain, we studied, we partied, we ate, we drank, but mostly, we danced. Dancing is such a big part of who we both are, and there are probably more pictures of us dancing than anything else. After study abroad, we continued our friendship through UNH and into our first real-world jobs at NETC Educational Travel. Working alongside your best friend is so much fun, and we continued to grow (and travel!) together, and of course dance :)
Now as young women, we have over 9 years of friendship and many more to come. Having her as a bridesmaid in my wedding last year was special, and I am excited to return the favor. I am proud to call her my best friend and partner-in-crime, my blonde to my brunette, my almost married lady Victoria!
While I may be several inches taller than Victoria, I also happen to be her youngest cousin. I grew up mirroring Victoria in many ways -- from being a striker on the soccer field, to blasting Spice Girls jams from my bedroom, to buying everything in sight that resembled our favorite color, turquoise blue. Today, I admire Victoria's passion, effort, and commitment to her relationship with Rene. Rene, my own personal "Paul Rudd", could not be a better fit for my beautiful cousin. His interests seem to coincide with Victoria's, and they both treat each other with undeniable love and care. While she never allowed me be one of the spice girls in her posse as a little girl, she's allowed me to be one of her bridesmaids at her wedding, and for that I am truly grateful. Congratulations, Victoria & Rene!
I’m going to be Rene and Victoria’s sister-in-law! My first introduction to Rene and Victoria was a spot-on, memorable one. Rene leapt through the crowd at a Christmas party to introduce himself and ask why I liked his brother, while Victoria floated through the group like a blonde goddess to apologize for him scaring me. Needless to say they made me feel right at home from the start. Fast forward a few Pig Roast trips and LaPlante family weekends in Huntington and The Keys, I’ve had the pleasure of growing closer to R & V and I can’t wait to have a new brother and sis!
Meet the Men
Rene and I met in elementary school a long time ago. So long ago I don’t think I have any actual memory of our first encounter. I was probably leaving music class after slaying a rendition of Beethoven’s Fifth on my recorder, and he was probably being dragged by the ear down the hall to the principal’s office, when our eyes first met and our fate was forever sealed. From that point on we would create fond memories such as delivering newspapers, playing Baldur’s Gate, sharing the stage at Williston Northampton, driving around town aimlessly in a beat up old Civic, and drinking beer while pontificating on growing up in a changing world (those latter two not at the same time, obviously). Though I’ve know Rene most of my life and we’ve seen so much together, I’ve never seen him as happy as he is with Victoria. I’m so happy I could be a part of their big day and I wish them both the best.
As soon as I met Rene, we were on the same team. This may have been a group piano class in the basement of our community music school, but winning was paramount. We saw the fire in each others eyes and a partnership born. We strengthened this camaraderie while playing water polo together in both high school and college. We both ended up working in Boston where I got to see him fall in love with Victoria.
Rene has been like a brother for a long time now. I have been blessed to have his support through starting businesses, my marriage, and having two boys. Through all of these moments he has been an honest and loving sounding board. He has eased into our family dynamic at every stage. Victoria brings a great balance to Rene's energy, and I am excited to see them take the plunge.
I quickly learned that the fire I first saw carried into all aspects of Rene's life. I could not be happier that Rene found someone who can match that. Good luck Victoria ;)
